Special Education Paraprofessionals support and inspire our students with disabilities so that they can realize their full potential.

LAUSD’s Division of Special Education provides specially designed instruction that meets the needs of our students with disabilities. To meet the unique educational needs of our students, the Division adapts the content, methodology and/or delivery of instruction so that the students can access curriculum and meet defined educational standards. Special Education Paraprofessionals have a critical role in the delivery of instruction for students with special needs, as the Paraprofessionals assist teachers in the classroom in support of these students.

Special Education Paraprofessionals assist teachers in the support of students with disabilities. Paraprofessionals help in the training and education of students by carrying out duties such as adapting classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials for the students and assisting teachers in implementing lessons for a student or a group of students. Additionally, the Paraprofessional helps in caring for students' physical needs.

Paraprofessionals typically work in the classroom, either assisting a teacher or working one-on-one with a student.
